ATH SCRATCH RESISTANT FOR SOLID SURFACE.

One of our most outstanding solutions is the use of ATH AS55 (alumina trihydrate) specially formulated to improve scratch resistance, a crucial aspect in applications where durability and aesthetics are paramount.

The development of ATH AS55 provides high scratch resistance while maintaining an excellent level of whiteness, which allows for high-quality finishes. This material undergoes different processes to guarantee innovative properties in Solid Surface: it reduces marking and scratching due to its high hardness, class 6 on the Mohs scale, similar to that of steel.

The integration of ATH anti-scratch with the resin is the same as with other ATHs we have for Solid Surface, since the product is supplied ready to mix with the resin in usual proportions.

Our polyester resins, based on ISO-NPG and modified with MMA, offer improved surface hardness and protection against UV radiation, which also helps to extend the life of the Solid Surface piece and maintain its original appearance for longer. The combination of anti-scratch ATH AS55 and our advanced resins result in products that are not only functional, but durable and visually flawless.

In the video we can see a comparison between a plate made with anti-scratch ATH AS55 Solid Surface and another made of conventional Solid Surface. Since the ATH AS55 is harder than the coin, the coin leaves a mark on the surface, as if it were a pencil, which can easily be cleaned with a scouring pad and it will be as good as new.

This does not happen with conventional Solid Surface boards, where the coin is harder than the material and if we apply enough pressure, the board can easily scratch.
