Descubre cómo obtener el máximo rendimiento de los desmoldantes ABABOL

Practical Guide: How to Correctly Apply ABABOL Release Agents.

In the rubber, composite, polyurethane, and rotational molding industries, release is a key step. Improper application can result in imperfections and even the need to remake parts. That’s why, at CLADES COMPOSITES, we want to help you get the most out of ABABOL release agents by sharing this guide on their correct application, both manually and with a spray gun.

Why ABABOL?

ABABOL release agents are designed with high-performance polymer technology, allowing them to adapt to multiple surfaces and industrial processes. They are available in solvent-based and solvent-free versions, depending on your needs, mold type, and part.

We have different versions of release agents for all types of polymer-matrix composite materials, such as epoxy, polyester, acrylic, and phenolic resins, rubbers and elastomers, polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyurethane, among others.

Whatever your process: Rotomolding, Infusion, GRP, Casting, Injection, RTM, RIM, etc., you’ll find your ideal release agent.

The ABABOL range of release agents offers unique advantages such as high release power, lubricity, and zero VOC emissions.

Manual Application.

  1. Clean paper: Do not use sponges or absorbent materials. Use clean, dry cellulose paper instead.
  2. Spray or moisten: Apply the release agent with a hand-held sprayer or by moistening the paper directly.
  3. Spread and polish: Use another clean paper to polish the surface evenly. With solvent-free products, polishing is not necessary immediately unless the mold is warm.
  4. Curing time: Allow at least 15 minutes at 20–25°C before applying another coat or starting production.
  5. Consult the technical data sheets: The technical data sheet for each Ababol release agent specifies the recommended number of coats and other important information.
  6. Do not reuse materials: Discard used paper after each application to avoid contamination with polymerized product.

Gun Application.

  1. Gun with a fine nozzle: recommendation of a maximum of 0.5 mm, with independent air and fluid regulation.

2. Uniform movement: The arm—not just the wrist—must follow the shape of the mold. Avoid overloaded areas.

  1. Avoid buildup: Make smooth strokes and make sure to position the gun correctly.

    1. Adjust the air/product mixture: guidelines for a temperature of 20-25°C.
    • Solvent-free: Air/material ratio of 4:1.5 or 3:1.
    • Solvent-based: Ratio of 1.5:1 to 2:1.
    1. Consult the technical data sheets: The technical data sheet for each Ababol release agent specifies the recommended number of coats and other important information.
    2. Pay attention to the temperature: If the mold is warm, polymerization will be faster and you can reduce the number of coats.

CLADES Tip.

More release agent does not mean better release. The secret is to apply just what is needed, in thin, even coats. Each ABABOL product is formulated to maximize release performance.
