Clades Composites Incorporates DSC 3 Star System Equipment to Strengthen Quality Control of Its Resins.

At Clades Composites, we are committed to excellence. Therefore, we are pleased to announce the recent acquisition of DSC 3 Star System analytical equipment, which will allow us to further enhance the rigor of our polyester and epoxy resin quality control.

What is DSC 3 and why did we choose it?

DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) is a widely recognized analytical technique in the polymer world for measuring changes in thermal properties: glass transitions, heat of cure, thermal stability, among others.

The DSC 3 model (and its modular “Star” version) incorporates a sensor with numerous thermocouples that allow for high sensitivity and resolution in thermal measurements. Furthermore, its modular design facilitates future expansions and features a robust sampling robot that allows for continuous or automatic operation, optimizing laboratory productivity.

Thanks to the sensor configuration, the thermocouples evenly surround the sample and reference areas, ensuring stable baselines and results.

This type of instrument allows us to:

  • Detect even the weakest thermal effects in small samples.
  • Analyze samples over a wide temperature range (for example, from –150°C to 250°C in a single measurement).
  • Perform automatic calibrations to ensure accuracy.
  • Prevent samples from being influenced by moisture or oxygen.
  • Detailedly characterize essential properties such as the residual curing heat of epoxy resins, the glass transition temperature (Tg), the thermal stability of the resins, and detect possible batch-to-batch differences.
